This is Laguna, the area of Surabaya where my temporary house is. There are lots of gated communities with lots of McMansions. And I'm pretty sure those are sewage steams with lily pads growing in them. People build concrete barriers around their houses for privacy and protection. So you see this beautiful house with a concrete barrier around the sides and back. It's weird.

ReplyDeleteI just noticed a typo in this post. How embarrassing! I corrected it but, in case you also noticed...yes, I do know the difference between there, their, and they're. And I am sorry for the incorrect usage. And I call myself an English teacher...I should be ashamed!
